On both models I masked the inlets by cutting plastic disks that fit in from behind and were secured in place with foam blocks, allowing me to get
the outside colors as far into the inlets as they should be without getting overspray on all the silver paint inside the rest of the inlets.  
Harbor Freight sells these punches in a set.  They are inexpensive and often useful.
