Sheet
plastic was again used to modify the shape of the flap wells. The
Hellcat had panels which were parallel to the wing's lower surface with
the flaps up and sealed the area to prevent high pressure air from
flowing up over the flaps when retracted, but were hinged and
rotated down into the flap well to allow airflow when the
fowler flaps were extended. Hasegawa didn'r replicate this, but
made the flap wells square. I took the easy route and
trimmed off the excess plastic after gluing the
sheets in. It made them easier to align all at the same angle
while fitting them between the flap hinge brackets. The brackets
are simplified,
but are hard to see so I left them as molded.
