Kit arrived safely at Frank's home, Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, USA.
The
Spitfire landed in Wisconsin today, attached is a photo of me with the
kit.
Only
a couple of hours after receiving the model from John in Connecticut, I
have all of the parts I will need to complete my portion of this
build. The others were right, the fit of this kit is
unbelievable!
Nicely detailed without all of the fiddly bits that can really slow
down a build. In the first photo, I am using my mini punch and
die to
punch out a disc of Tamiya tape to cover the clear portion of the
gunsight. Sticking the tape to a piece of aluminum foil allows
you to
punch it out, then separate it for use without damaging the tape
itself.
In the next photo, I am airbrushing the cockpit parts in their
predominant colors.
Finally,
a photo showing all of the bits painted.
Next up, some detail painting and a flat coat, followed by some light
weathering.

Another
update from me on the Secret Spitfire! I finished my part of
the build late last night. What an awesome kit, I really cannot
wait
to get started on mine now. This morning, I took my calipers out
and
measured the distances between the tailwheel and the main wheels, and
developed a special Frankenstyrostand for it. I hope the fellow
down
the road who paints this beast finds it helpful! I am also
putting it
in the box as my little something special for Darren, I hope he enjoys
it.
