Although it was supposed to be carried in the bomb bay of the B-36, that never happened because of unsuccessful attempts to dock with a B-29 in a test program. It was too unstable in the wake turbulence from the B-29 as it neared the trapese it was supposed to latch on to. The RF-84K was developed and flew with the GRB-36D. The XF-85 would have been able to fit inside the closed bomb bay with it's wings folded.
