Lt(jg) Haruki Iki was a Type 1 / G4M1 Betty pilot in the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). During 1941, Commanding Officer (C. O.) of the 3rd Chutai, Kanoya Kōkūtai. On December 10, 1941, Iki took off piloting G4M1 Betty Tail K-331 on an attack against HMS Repulse and the 3rd Chutai scored three hits. The next day, Iki flew over the battle area and dropped a wreath as a mark of respect for the Japanese and British lost in the battle. Today Iki lives in retirement in the Tokyo area. He was president of the Medium Bomber Association, which disbanded after their final reunion in Nagoya in 2005.
