Perhaps this is the start of finally getting around to building the
cars that I have had. My interaction with this one was brief,
although when it was new it was likely the first vehicle I "drove",
sitting on my grandfather's lap in a
sheep pasture. Later on when I was 16 I was given the pickup, which
had at that time a slapping wrist pin. I drove it to school for a
while, and then pulled the engine apart to fix the wrist pin and did the
usual bearing and
gasket replacement. Soon as I had it running again the powers that
be decided the harvester crew needed it worse than me.
A year or so later it was replaced by
a 62 Chevy Super Sport so as you might
think my feelings were somewhat mollified, but it still was a lesson in
trust. Lest you think me a spoiled brat, I had been working 30 more
more hours a week since I was in the 7th grade with no pay. That's
how
it is on the farm (and water well drilling business). It had been
repainted by then in company colors, Cape Blue with black fenders.
Cape Blue was a color used by GM in 60 to 64 and we had pickups and 2 1/2
ton
trucks that came in that color.
