I applied a coat of Alclad II flat aluminum overall, followed by a
coat of Alclad II Gloss Clear. This makes for a sturdy base for
chipping.
I can't make the hairspray method work to my satisfaction but with this
undercoat I can go at it with anything from toothpicks to files or dental
tools.
