1/64 ply sheeting was installed on the lower front centersection. This is to provide a platform to lay up the front cabin
laminated
upper section. Something temporary could be arranged, but the ply
will increase the durability of this area.
Plastic sheet covers the wing and bulkhead F2. Clamp the wing to the fuselage.
This photo is of when the formed part is being permanently attached to the F2 bulkhead, the plastic sheeting has
been moved to protect only the wing. The parts were assembled with the sheet as placed in the previous photo.
Because slight variations in wing fit will change the shape, the center facing edges were cut straight. You will have to
sand a slight curve into the front area of that center join to allow the compound curve at the leading edge. The parts
were layered up two at a time using gel CA and finger pressure to maintain the shape at the leading edge.
The part removed from the fuselage.
The motor mount installation. Put the side parts in on the left and right sides first, then the mount plate. The tab and slot arrangement will not allow any other
order. A cleaner nose profile could be had if the thrust line were lowered, but then more downthrust would be required. This is the original thrust
line location at the propeller centerline and the mount is made for 2°
downthrust.. The Herbòn plan shows an ignition engine with 0°
downthrust.
First assembly. That scary time when you start checking alignments.
