Henry Struck's 1937 Benny Boxcar in 108 inch span

Ply blocks were inserted outside the center hinge parts and after drilling the locations small screws were installed to lock the removable parts in place.  The screws are installed on the top and the bottom.

The fin front support was drilled for a sheet metal screw.

With the fin and elevator assembled to the fuselage, a hole was drilled through all associated parts and a length of 6-32 all-thread was installed in the fin.  The upper nut is glued to the all thread and the fin.

A view of the assembled parts.  Note the filler blocks of balsa that center the fin support between the upper longerons

The motor mount will be removable on this Boxcar 108.  The mount parts were assembled to the firewall using a rubber band and clamps to hold it together
while the 30 minute epoxy cured.  Then it was removed from the  firewall and  1/4 inch basswood  milled into corner stock  was glued into the vertical corners.
Material mast be removed from the bottom plate of the mount to clear the landing gear.
